Charles-Hubert, Paris 3901-W Classic Collection Open Face Mechanical Pocket Watch Review

So far I'm happy. This is my third pocket watch, and first "nice" one. I am writing this just after I got it, so this review may change in the future. These are just my first impressions.

I have been looking for watches in the 70-150$ range, and many are overpriced. This one caught my eye because it had the right combination of price, quality, and style. As for style, I looked everyone on Amazon, and this watch definitely does not look like the other pocket watches. It's beautiful, especially in person. Still photos do not do it justice. The way the metallic portions reflect light, the tiny recessed textures, are impressive to look at. And although this is not a skeleton watch, there are windows for the important gears.

I have to say, this thing is bigger than I expected. My previous two pocket watches were about the size of a half dollar coin. Even though it's bigger, it still fits in that 'fifth pocket' in my jeans.

Can it tell time? Only time will tell. I'll update this review after a week to see how accurate it is.

Update: I had this a few days. When it's fully wound it goes a bit fast. Every ~2 days it'll add a minute. (And when you keep it closer to "uncharged" wind states, it goes slow). The spring isn't ideally linear. All in all, it's less accurate than my 30$ mech watch (which can stay accurate for more than a week), but it's good enough. It's a mechanical watch after all. If you make the habit of winding the watch, make the habit of checking the time every few days too. I still give it five stars!

Update 2: Less than a month, this watch stopped working properly. It's a lifetime warranty so I'm going to have it repaired, but I'm upset this happened. My cheap $30 watch is still working perfectly I'll be using this while this Charles Hubert one is out of commission.
