I have some trouble hearing the higher frequencies of those 'beeps' that are the alarm sound on the newer digital watches. And those 'beeps' come from somwhere 'deep inside', and in back of (i.e. against your wrist), the watch body. So, I had hoped that, what appears to be a 'speaker' on the front of the watch would be the alarm 'speaker'...which would make the alarm louder. It's not. It's some sort of LED that illuminates for some unknown reason.
