Some two months back, having purchased two nice dress watches from Amazon (late birthday present to my dear self), I stumbled across the functionality problem. Beside elegant clear faces nither of those watches had a function I really needed, Alarm. So, decided to buy an other one with alarm. I wanted analog watch, with as clear dial as possible (all those tachymeters, altimeters, radiometers, etc. on watch faces/bezels make me sick), with date-only calendar and decent water resistence. I checked out hundreds of watches on Amazon and other web sites, and this Seiko looked the best. Solidly made, and with sapphire crystal(!) In my opinion, the watch would look even better if they made roman numerals slightly smaller, say 3/4 of those on the dial, then it would look cleaner and easier to read. This watch does not have any luminescence on its hands/marks, so in dark it is useless (no problem in the dusk/dawn condition though). The alarm is easy to set (compared to what I have read about, for instance, Citizen alarm chronographs) but it is not loud at all. This kind of alarm might be good to use somewhere in office, but probably not good enough to wake up somebody. An other drawback was, the watch came with out Manufacturer warranty certificate although it was purchased directly from Amazon. Yes, Amazon provides its own 2-yr warranty but this is not as good as the Manufacturer's warranty. And if I would not care much about warranty for a $100 watch, I would strongly prefer to know exactly what kind of warranty comes with any watch that cost over $200. Amazon should pay more attention to this issue, but they do not, unfortunately. Over all I am very satisfied with this watch and I would rate it 5 stars, however one star has been eaten by warranty issue. I love this watch.
