Perigaum Automatic Men's Watch P-1113-Ib-S-Sle Review
First of wall - this watch is huge. At least much bigger as you could expect looking at the picture. However, if you pay attention to dimensions explained in the description, you might get an idea BEFORE buying it. The dial is REASONABLY big (unlike those monsters from Diesel), but the watch case is THICK. So look at the dimensions and check at least the ruler. It's also HEAVY - but right at the comfortable limit. I have a feeling, that 2 grams more and I would not wear it. Again, check description and compare to something of similar weight.
Regarding brand itself - is blacklisted at major watch forums - mostly for pretending to be German while is definitely made in China. However, if you don't mind where it's made while it delivers promised functionality at reasonable price - might be a choice.
Personally, I don't think reliable automatic movement watch can cost ~$300 (as of moment I bought it from Amazon) - the machinery seems just too complicated to cost that small amount of money, but I am not watch geek either, so let it judge to folks who declare to be gurus in this knowledge area (hint: google for watch forums). So I will go directly to the design.
Well, from design perspective - do no trust the image again. In real life this piece looks much more "Chinese" than you could expect looking at the official image. It has too many shiny parts - case itself is brushed only on the front, the rest is glossy. The open balance window on the dial has a couple of glossy stones, hands are made of glossy material (are they metal at all?), Perigaum logo is reflective. All this together make the dial quite unergonomic. Small month/day dials are unreadable at certain hands postions, open moving balance gears and seconds hand all together just bring too much chaos to what is expected to be simple time reading. Also, the dial labeled with 10-15-20.. instead of 1-2-3... digits sometimes makes me tell people that "it's 5 minutes to 55". And "German design" put on the dial around 30 minutes mark just reminds about "German Chinese" origin of the watch.
Buttons above and below crown (looking cool on the picture) are easy to be hit accidentally - so be ready to adjust date and month, especially, if you let your kid play with the watch.
Talking about day/date functions - they are automatic, so the date and day advance at midnight automatically (mentioning this because I saw other reviews on Perigaum's watches where customers told that day/date/month needed to be adjusted manually). I believe, that by the end of the month that has 30 days I wil have to set the date to 1 of the next month manually, but who knows - date window has 2 independent fields, mechanics might be intellectual enough to be aware of current month context.
BTW, there is another button on the left side of the case (that handles day of the week setup) which needs some pin or staple to be adjusted - this wasn't mentioned in the manual coming with the watch. Manual itself is useless - there is no this model mentioned in it, at least I couldn't identify it. However, there are a couple of dozens of other watch models listed in the manual, that can be useful to any fan of Chinese made German/Swiss/Japan watches.
Can't judge movement accuracy and water (and other watch-unfriendly conditions) protection yet - I own the watch just for a week as of moment of this writing. However automatics seems to work - don't have to wind the crown every day.
Bottom line - do not trust the picture. You will get typical noname watch with limited but still visible attributes of cheap Chinese-style design approach.
Do I like this watch? Well, I couldn't find anything looking similar within $300 limit in terms of design (again, on the picture). Assembly seems good, band looks really good made. But those shiny parts of the dial...
