It will take some time to get used to reading this watch especially if you've never been in the military, such as myself. What I have noticed so far is that I have been getting to my appointments earlier than usual. I recon it's because I'm not pushing myself to the absolute very last minute before leaving for an appointment. I have also found that in dealing with estimations of time, i.e. it's about 11am or It's 4:20ish, there is a more relaxed feeling through out the workday. There is an occurring that time is slowing down. So far... I do have many higher quality watches so maybe it will just take a little more time for me to come to love the watch. The design is clean, simple, and has a retro look, which is great but if it was available in other styles I may have been inclined to go that route. I don't know that having the date visible on the face of the watch would detract from the purpose of moving over to a single hand 24-hour watch. I find myself having to grab my phone, iPad, or computer for the date. I think if one had the option to purchase this watch with the date field or not (as in personal preference) that would be a plus.
