Orient Men's WV0411ER Jumbo Oval Face Watch Review

I've had my eye on getting an Orient watch for a few months now. I took a risk with this one because generally oval watches are made smaller more in women's sizes. However, it was clear this model is more in line with men's watches, so I took a chance. As it turns out it's a great watch. The model I got actually has a vibrant purple color on the face, although the picture here shows a more reddish color. I was pleased that the automatic movement in this watch has the same sub-second sweep that the the other Orient automatic watches have, even though the second hand itself is a very wide triangle, it appears to glide smoothly around the central 'cone' hub. You can make out the days of the month under the translucent face, and there is a tiny window that shows you the jewel used for the spring escapement mechanism.

The watch does not have a display back. The watch band is made of a leathery material that is perhaps just a little small - for my wrist I have to use the last hole in order for the watch to not be too tight.

Overall, I am very pleased with this watch, as it is a conversation starter and built to the high standards I would expect all Orient watches are subject to.

Invicta Men's 1854 Reserve Chronograph Black Dial Stainless Steel Watch Review

46mm across the bezel, the Ocean Reef 1854 with gunmetal bezel, black dial, and silver bracelet is one of my smaller watches. But the Ocean Reef has a very thick bracelet and this makes it a substantial timepiece. The white Arabic numerals and indices on the black chrono dial stand out and are easy to read.

The bracelet has two microlinks for more precise fitting.

This watch is part of the Reserve line and is hand-made and hand-finished in Switzerland. My watch dealer told me he liked the quartz movement and I inferred he meant that it is Swiss.

Build quality is excellent. Very heavy and upscale.

One of my favorite designs Invicta has ever made (I own 5 versions). Now I'm waiting (wishing) they'll make a bigger, say, 50mm version.

However, I did return it because one thing. The second had doesn't "sweep". It just stays in the 12 o'clock position. The only time it "sweeps" is when you turn on the timer and after an hour it returns to 12.

I love the concept of the binary watch and I like how different it is from any other. So I decide to purchase this particular one because of the "gold" band. I was quite disappointed because it looked more like bronze when I unboxed the item. The band is also too big for my wrist.
