Croton Men's CA301134SSGR Sharpshooter Black Dial Stainless Steel Watch Review

This is a very unique watch owing to the fact that Croton claims the crystal is "bulletproof". I know the crystal is very thick hardened mineral which has better crush resistance (but scratches easier) than sapphire. There is a protective hard rubber ring which rises above the face and protects the crystal and bezel. I wore this watch on a camping expedition and I can tell you it is very rugged.

The other unique attribute to this particular timepiece is the tritium illumination which is, as far as I know, the only Croton watch with tritium. I have several other tritium watches and this one is plenty bright at night. If you are not familiar with tritium, it is an isotope of hydrogen. The tritium gas inside the tiny tubes excites the special coating on the inside of the tube and illuminates to a surprisingly bright level. The 12 O'clock tube is orange for easy reference in the dark. The half life is something like 12 years and should illuminate for 20 years or so.

I purchased this when it went on sale. I am very happy that I decided to add this watch to my collection. It features a Swiss quartz movement, 10 year lithium battery and most importantly, Croton's lifetime warranty. They have been around since 1878.

The stainless steel bracelet is very comfy and substantial. My only complaint is the use of friction pins vs screws, I had to take it to a jeweler to get it sized. If you want something very unique and well made, this won't disappoint.
